Devon Young Fishers CIC is dedicated to empowering young people, including NEET and underrepresented groups, with hands-on training and mentorship in fishing and marine sustainability. Our initiatives aim to provide valuable learning experiences, promote environmental stewardship, and engage the community in preserving Devon's fishing industry for future generations.

Introduction to Sea Fishing & Safety at Sea

This introductory lesson ensures participants gain a foundational understanding of fishing while experiencing hands-on learning in a safe, supportive environment!

Objective: Introduce participants to the basics of sea fishing, including safety, equipment, and fundamental fishing techniques, in an engaging and hands-on way.

  • Welcome & Safety Briefing (20 Minutes)

  • Fishing Equipment Basics (20 Minutes)

  • Casting & Basic Fishing Techniques (40 Minutes)

  • Trial Fishing Experience (30 Minutes)

  • Wrap-Up & Next Steps (10 Minutes)

Lessons are £25 pp. However, we do not want cost to prohibit our Young Fishers from participating. If you need support with full or partial payment, please contact us for our paid for places. Our lessons are open to all young people who want to attend, and anyone looking to become Young Fisher!

Devon Young Fishers CIC is here to change that.

 

We provide hands-on training, mentorship, and career pathways for 11 -25 year olds, ensuring the fishing industry remains strong for generations to come.
